~Torkoal (Kazusu) – Kazusu was Dashi’s first pokemon. When he started apprenticing for a blacksmith, he was given the choice between quite a few fire types. He almost settled with a Magby, thinking, “this looks like a duck and I like that in a pokemon,” but then he saw Kazusu sleeping and realized that Kazusu was a pokemon after his own heart. Kazusu is rather powerful, but he’d much rather nap or stay at home than battle. He takes care of the rest of team and is a really wise and sweet old thing, but is more than slightly lazy. Sometimes Dashi sets a tea kettle on his back, Kazusu boils the water, and they have tea time like old friends should.

~Slowking (Shimo) – He met Shimo soon after joining the temple. The Slowpoke was lounging by the temple pond one day and Dashi decided to go be the curious little nudge he was and investigate the sort of silly looking pink pokemon.  Shimo’s curiosity got the better of him and he started following Dashi around the temple. Eventually, Shimo became Dashi’s partner in making stuff happen for the sake of making stuff happen. Shimo is just as inquisitive as Dashi and loves to help him with experiments and stuff. Despite a slightly dopey appearance, Shimo’s very smart and very powerful. He’s probably the pokemon Dashi’s closest to, not including Dojo and they are amazing to watch in battle. He’s got a sort of eclectic move set, many coming from TMs or move tutors and the like, including Blizzard, Focus Blast, Hydropump, and Trick Room. Fun Fact: Dashi actually made a King’s Rock for him rather than finding one.

~Golduck (Hamachi) – The sheer level of excitement Dashi had over catching a psyduck was a bit disturbing for his friends. Dashi was insanely happy to finally have his duck pokemon, and even more so once he learned what a goof Hamachi is. Hamachi likes to make anybody around him laugh. He goofs around, pulls pranks, generally drives the elder monk nuts. He doesn’t get serious until it’s almost too late in some situations, but he generally pulls through in the end. Hamachi is an attention hound and is crazy social, Dashi jokes that he’d go home with anybody for crackers. He won’t though, he may love to feel special or whatever, but Dashi’s still his favorite.

~Mawile (Wushu) – She’s a bit shy and standoffish, she’s friendly enough, but she doesn’t want everybody fawning over her. She can generally be found hiding behind Dashi’s legs or helping him out when he’s doing something metal work related. Dashi caught Wushu because despite her shyness, she’s sort of a badass. He’s got no idea where she learned moves like Charge Beam and Ancient Power, but she’s got them and she will use them, although generally only when she feels threatened. She’s a hard worker and is very humble and sometimes doesn’t get the recognition she deserves for being such a trooper. She and Kazusu get along very well and can often be found looking at scrolls together.

~Salamence (Sapphire) – Dashi doesn’t like to use Sapphire. Not out of any sort of sense of fair play or dislike of her as a pokemon, but she’s legitimately dangerous. She’s powerful and sadistic, with a vindictive streak a mile wide. And to make matters worse, she’s smart and patient. She will spontaneously stop listening to Dashi mid-battle and start playing with her opponent, keeping it just on the verge of fainting, before hitting it with a Draco Meteor. He didn’t want to catch her, but it came down to keeping a village safe, and so he changed gears from his usual friendly trainer self to a ruthless pokemon champion. He literally walked out with only Shimo and proceeded to Blizzard her into being captured. He never gave up on trying to befriend her, but he knows that she’s an emergency only type of pokemon.

~Mantine (Silver) – Silver was a chance catch in the Whirl Islands. He saw her leaping out of the water between whirlpools and was so distracted that he almost got sucked under himself, but Silver saved him. She genuinely cares about others, but is very independent and would do anything to maintain her freedom. He took his time with her, getting her to listen and understand that he was her friend rather than a master or controller or something. Because of this, she’s basically uncontrollable for any other trainer, not out of any sort of malice, she’s quite friendly, but just out of not being able to handle any sort of situation where she’s not able to do what she wants, when she wants. She’s a real daredevil and takes all sorts of stupid risks, but she knows how to have a good time and is very powerful.
Alright, Dashi was my next request/I really enjoy pissing off whoever doesn’t like me posting Dashi stuff.
